Debian has nice little features like aptitude (made it easy to install things like hotplug and discover pckg's) which are nice :)

I'm kinda new in Linux and I'm using fedora too. There is indeed "apt" for fedora and and gui for it called "synaptic". Here's a link to synaptic:
http://www.nongnu.org/synaptic/
Hope that helps.
I have only used Fedora, so I have to preference in OS yet. What OS have u used and how's Debian better compared to them?

Hello all. I made the switch to Linux about 5 years ago and have been completely MS free since :-) It's the only way to be.
Been through a few distros: Mandrake (ugh!), Slackware (not bad), Debian (rocks), SuSE (far too nice), and finally settled with Gentoo. Gentoo is amazing; the Gentoo dev team have put a ridiculous amount of work into creating a distro that compiles everything from source yet works as painlessly as apt-get.
Try it (unless you have a slow processor or very little patience).
Anyhoo, hello.

Hello folks,
As for me and my house:
- Slackware
- fluxbox
- rox
Distros:
I've tried a bunch of distros, but I keep coming back to Slack. To those using Gentoo: does it take forever to do the initial install? Just wondering because I here it's pretty spiffy.
Editors:
I'll be honest, I'm not overly comfortable with vim or pico... but I use them I have to. Emacs gives me nightmares. As for graphical text editors, I like NEdit.
Window Managers:
Anyone else out there like to try different window managers? My favorites: fluxbox, oroboROX, blackbox, xfce, pekwm...
